Rosebud-Lott 1st Graders in Weather Mania

Rosebud-Lott Elementary participated in our Weather Mania program yesterday and they have their new Polycom HDX system. Check out their website to see how it works.

I know that we will be seeing more of the students from Rosebud in our Weather with Rusty sessions next year.

Kudos!

Scott Elementary - Temple ISD (1:00 PM)

We enjoyed another great group of Scott Elementary students in our afternoon session today.  Both of our groups from Scott Elementary were re-scheduled from an earlier day when the weather turned “Textbook Severe” - and it was so wonderful to hear that on that stormy day, the students referred to their “Project Tornado” booklets and KNEW WHAT TO DO!!!

Thanks for all your prepared questions and your thoughtful responses to our conversations.   Make that safety plan a year-round priority boys and girls and ENJOY YOUR SUMMER!!!

Scott Elementary - Temple ISD (11:00 AM)

Big “props” to my great friends at Scott Elementary, both students and teachers. You made today’s “Project Tornado” a fun and educational experience for me and for your fellow students!

Your participation in the “pop quiz” dealing with FLASH FLOODS taught you all a very important lesson on the power of flowing water and it is my hope that you will take that lesson and the others in our time together home with you as you create a safety plan for your family! Great Job everyone!!!!

Weather Mania: Day 2

Today we linked up with four terrific schools for an exciting send off to this year’s study of weather safety. Our “hats off” to Hamilton ISD, Kennedy-Powell Elementary in Temple, Kopperl ISD and East Ward Elementary in Killeen!!

The students at these four campuses performed skits, read poetry, sang songs and showed SO WELL that our lessons have had an impact on the safety of themselves and their families. A great big thanks for the fine job the teachers have done in preparation for today’s unbelievable performances, and to the students who “shined like stars”. You have all made me so proud!!!!!!

Kudos to all our participating students and teachers. Remember students be sure to keep reading books during the summer!

Weather Mania: Day 1

Today we connected to classes who had participated in Weather With Rusty Project Tornado for our first Weather Mania. During Weather Mania the tables are turned and the students create presentations for me.

It was awesome to see students from Bynum ISD, Dew ISD, Clifton ISD, Fairfield ISD, Killeen ISD’s East Ward Elementary, Riesel ISD, and Rosebud-Lott ISD.

Almost 200 students presented weather poems, songs, research, and safety tips with each other. What a great way for me to see how students learned from their Weather with Rusty sessions.

Clifton ISD-2nd Grade (2:15-5/15/08)

Thank you so much 2nd grade students and wonderful teachers for our video conference on weather safety at Clifton Elementary!    These Bosque county kids are always a “treat” to spend time with and seem to always come up with well thought out questions for me!

I hope your upcoming summer is enjoyable and that we can get together again in the Fall when you become 3rd graders!

Temple ISD-Scott Elem-2nd Grade (1:30-5/15/08)

Our Thursday video conference with Scott Elementary, again, proved to be an exciting one.  The students were full of wonderfully prepared questions and the pop quizzes were both fun and educational!

We appreciate so much the preparation the teachers went through to insure that this was beneficial time spent and here’s to the students who all promised to generate conversations with their friends and family to help “spread the word” about weather safety throughout our Bell county area!!

Killeen ISD-Maxdale Elem-2nd Grade (10:30-5/15/08)

Our Maxdale Elementary 2nd graders were such a wonderful group with many great questions!   It is so much fun to have participants who are obviously “interested” and “eager” to learn about weather.   On behalf of Ms. Roxanne and myself….thanks to the students and teachers for a terrific video conference on such a serious matter!

Clifton ISD-2nd Grade (2:15-5/13/08)

Again, the great students at Clifton Elementary “wowed” us with their preparation and wonderful questions during today’s “Weather With Rusty” session.    My 2nd grade friends there are now equipped with life saving information - which I hope will be shared and discussed with families throughout the Bosque county area!!!

Boys and girls…..teachers and faculty…..THANKS from the bottom of my heart for being such a great audience for our time together this Tuesday!!!!

Temple ISD-Scott Elem-3rd Grade (1:30-5/13/08)

Thank you 3rd graders from Scott Elementary - Temple, for a wonderful video conference today!!!   You have done so much great preparation and put so much thought into your questions and it was a pleasure to address all of the topics you brought up.

I sincerely hope you are preparing a safety plan for your family and will remember what we discussed today.   Thanks to the faculty for sharing these bright students with us for “Weather With Rusty”!!!!
