Hmmm…

Date May 1, 2008

I must confess. I waaaayyyyy oversubscribed in my bloglines when I first learned about RSS feeds. I got caught up in trying to keep up with the “edu-bloggers” and all they were writing. Now, I realize I can’t keep up…and I really don’t want to. I am almost finished reading CrazyBusy and am thinking about how to better use my time at work and at play–so this quote that popped up on my iGoogle page struck a chord with me.

Read, every day, something no one else is reading.

Think, every day, something no one else is thinking.

Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do.

It is bad for the mind to be always part of unanimity.

Christopher Morley

What are you reading? What are you thinking? What are you doing?

You aren’t alone in oversubscribing. I’m guilty of doing the same thing - still am oversubscribed. I think that little orange square is like a beacon and I can’t seem to avoid having my mouse gravitate right to it. If you’ve managed to get down to the essentials, I applaud you. I can’t seem to find the time to do that nor keep up with all of the feeds, but I’m trying to get better about at least reading them.

Then I read your blog post (in my feed reader). The quote is great and got me thinking, along with your question, about what I’ve been doing myself. So here are my three simple answers to your three simple questions:
1. What am I reading? Aside from blog posts, I’m reading a romance book that I can’t recall the name or author of at the moment. Not because I’m into the book, but for pure escapism.
2. What am I thinking? That I need to read more romance books. :)
3. What am I doing? Beginning to count down the days until school is out. Nothing monumental, I know, but it’s something to look forward to!

My escape book this week was Three Cups of Tea. Wow! I couldn’t put it down. I think it’s important when we’re in technology to have some non-screen time on non work stuff! I can’t afford the time too often, but Three Cups of Tea was a wonderful treat!
