TxDLA: Day Two
March 27, 2008
Day two kicked off with Dave Carey sponsored by Polycom and he was amazing! He tells his story about being a prisoner of war in Vietnam and how they survived by doing what they needed to get done, developing a communication system, using humor, and having faith.
Collaborations Around the Planet: Janine shared popular collaboration formats and projects. The CAPspace is going to be a great tool for those of us interested in collaborations and projects. If you don’t know about the amazing booklet, be sure to link to it and print it out to use for your next teacher training.
Also, there are still spots in her next online course. This is a great introduction into curriculum videoconferencing where you can learn about the possibilities.
Continuing the Connection - Tools For Creating Sustainable DL Projects: Vicki started this session and went through lots of tools with the group before I got there. I finished the session by pointing them the the RSS in Plain English video and showed them my Bloglines and iGoogle. I focused on different ways that I personally use the different online tools to manage all of our student projects and collaborations.
Sailing at the Speed of Fiber: Paul Heironymous and Charlie Brown did a great session at 4:30 PM. There was a bit of “marketing” that went on to ensure a full house at this session.
Here is Paul’s PowerPoint that he freely shares. Use it for your trainings. I love how Paul manages the information about programs on his PageFlakes. I am going to think about how I can adapt this for our needs.
