Bluebonnet Conference: Nov. 9 at 9:45 AM

Date November 26, 2007

I have to blog these to remember the really amazing tips and tricks that these creative teachers are using with the technology. I recently sat in on a meeting where a state-level group is trying to figure out what to do with more bandwidth on a videoconference network. Uh…DUH! The work of these amazing teachers and students will be shared in so much better quality. Even with the jitters and the jerkiness of compressed video, these were simply…INCREDIBLE!

Mr. Barron’s Class-Mummies

img00599.jpgAnother production of Kim Pearce’s. This was complete with a sarcophagus, an X-ray machine, and a Sphinx backdrop. The only thing that detracted from the presentation was the audio quality. It is such a challenge to do a high-end production with a single pod-mic that picks up every paper rustle in the room. I wish that the microphones were smart enough to transmit voices and sound effects but muffle unnecessary noise. (A girl can dream, can’t she?)

Mrs. Fulton’s Class-Who Stole Halloween?

img00648.jpgThis presentation involved a great use of music and lighting to set the stage. I embarrassed myself at the beginning of the presentation when I asked the building coordinator to turn on the lights because I could not see the students. Oops! It was part of the set. The presentation began with the music from the Pink Panther and the students used flashlights during the presentation to really showcase the mystery.

Mrs. Moreland’s Class-Roxie and the Hooligans

img00586.jpgThis was Mrs. Moreland’s first year and the presentation showcased the book and the talent’s of her students. It was a full skit with the backdrop and costumes. This class did a great job articulating and the audio transmitted quite well. Norman stole the show. Once again, I am struck by how involved all the students are in the presentation and communicating with the Baylor students.
