Baseball Hall of Fame
September 27, 2007
I know that we are always looking for excellent content providers that both the teachers and the students get excited about and we have a new favorite here in our region…The Baseball Hall of Fame!
Clifton Jr. High students and Coach Rod McDaniel connected to the program “A Stitch in Time” on September 25. James Yasko is the presenter and he has a wonderful sense of humor, excellent content knowledge, and good technology to support the program.
Here are some of the questions our students asked:
- Are there any women in the Hall of Fame?
- Who was the first person accused of using a corked bat?
- Who was the greatest African American baseball player of all time?
- How old is the oldest player in the Hall of Fame?
I can definitely see why Baseball Hall of Fame is one of the Teachers’ Choice Awards for Best Multidisciplinary Museum. Their programming runs the gamut from programs on disabilities, economics, history, math…all taught through baseball!
Coach McDaniel had this to say about the connection, “The videoconference from the National Baseball Hall of Fame in
Cooperstown ,New York was extraordinary. Our students here inClifton are very blessed to have been a part of such a wonderful educational experience.”
Be sure to check out the Baseball Hall of Fame blog for updates on classroom activities. I am definitely going to share this with my schools as another way to get both students and teachers connected with quality content provider.
What is a provider that you have seen for the first time that gets both teachers and students excited? Leave a comment to share!
