831 Students!!!
May 24, 2007
This year at the TxDLA conference, Shane took his guitar and played a few songs for us during our after conference networking time and a couple of creative site managers came up with the idea of “Singing With Shane”. They wanted fun, energetic programs for Pre-K and K classes and since Shane has two young girls of his own, they knew he knew some songs to sing.
In a nutshell, the first session was on April 25, singing to 52 students in Fairfield. By May 16, 485 students had enjoyed a performance of “Singing With Shane” and I asked for people to contact us so he could get to the 500 student mark.
Well, yesterday, Shane sang to 331 students! Bringing his grand total to 831 students! Way to go, Shane! Check out a sample of “Singing With Shane”.

What a neat idea! The ‘car’ that Shane sang through looks a lot like the Logitech Video Effects software that comes with the newer Logitech webcams.
Do you know how Shane got this software (or whatever software he used to render himself as a car) to work through the Polycom unit?
Thanks! Great blog!

Good eye, Danny! It is the Logitech software! He uses the Polycom PVX with the Logitech video effects.
He connects through our MGC to the endpoints and still has a bit of a microphone echo that he thinks is due to the internal mic on the laptop interfering with the external mic. He has not been able to disable the internal mic on the laptop, but is working on that.
A friend of ours in Humble ISD, uses this technology to give spelling tests to elementary students! I thought that was a unique use of it also.
Thanks for the comment!
[...] Shane was entertaining at lunch with his avatars and singing. This is a great opportunity for PreK and K students. Read more about it on the VC Rox blog [...]
