Bluebonnet Conference Debrief
December 4, 2006
Today I met with Margaret Thomson and some of the teachers that participated in Bluebonnet Conference this year. I love to watch as our comfort level with the technologies continue to grow. I had to step out of the room as sites were connecting and Pam Hamilton (who presented at the JAZZ training last summer) took over and checked in sites. Actually, that happens more and more as I can really take over the facilitator role and move out of the middle of conversations and projects.
My favorite comment that shows the impact collaborative technologies (Moodle and video conferencing) can have on student learning!
“My students felt like they really belonged and that they were capable. They got to do a cool project for once. All the other students were curious about what my Reading Improvement students were doing. I had no discipline problems during or since this project and they are still excited about reading and writing!”
Planning has already begun for Bluebonnet Conference 2007. My “I get it” moment came while listening to the teachers shared ideas and I realized that some elements of the project I have maintained not because it was the best for the project, but because I had always done it that way! YIKES! I am going to bring some of the key teachers in the project together and I look forward to what next year will bring.
Thank you to all the classroom teachers, site managers, Baylor students, and Margaret Thomson who made this year a success!
