BN_Birthday2002 (17) This past Monday my Grandmother (my dad’s mom) passed away.  I will miss her dearly.  She was like a mother to me for most of my childhood.  She has been in a lot of pain over the last few years.  She broke her hip at the first of July and ever since then she only got worse.  It is actually a blessing at this point that she has moved on to be with Jesus and her husband Samuel Preston Newman.

Her obituary read:

Nina Newman, 75, of Troy, passed away Monday morning, Aug. 11, 2008. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at First Assembly of God Church of Troy, with Jim Guess officiating. Interment will follow at Roberts Cemetery in Troy, under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street in McGregor. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Cole Funeral Home. Mrs. Newman was born Nov. 26, 1932, in Durango, Texas, the daughter of the late William Cullen and Willie Corine (Tye) Pitts. At an early age, she moved to Troy where she attended school. She lived in McGregor for several years before returning to Troy in 1954. On Nov. 22, 1950, she married Samuel Preston Newman in Gatesville. After 42 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on May 2, 1993. A member of First Assembly of God Church in Troy, she had a great love of animals and enjoyed crochet and fishing. Also preceding her in death was a son, Dennis Wayne Newman; a brother, Levi Pitts; and a sister, Ethel Brown. Survivors include two sons, Eddie Newman of Moody, and Jimmy Newman of Troy; five brothers, Frank Pitts of Bellfalls, Melvin Pitts of Temple, Joe Pitts of Temple, David Pitts of Troy, and Donald Pitts of Bellfalls; a sister, Martha Newman of Temple; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. For those desiring, the family has suggested Scott and White Hospice, 2401 South 31st Street, Temple, TX 76508, for memorial contributions. Cole Funeral Home, 254-840-2880 November 26, 1932 - August 11, 2008.

I, the oldest of the grandchildren, will miss her very much.  This posting is just a simple way for me to say to her.  I love you and can’t wait until the day we are reunited in Heaven.

I attended a session hosted by VMWare and SHI in Austin last night. They covered a lot of the new VMWare offerings including VMWare ThinApp formally known as Thinstall. ThinApp allows you to run any version of virtually any application on a single operating system without conflicts using evening the Guest account.

You can…

  • Package each application with its own DLL file and registry changes to eliminate installation conflicts
  • Execute applications on locked-down PCs in 100% user mode
  • Run applications from any media without needing admin privileges

If you would like to give it a test drive you can download an evaluation copy of ThinApp at https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/login.php?eval=thinapp.

midori_c What is Midori?  It could be the next version of Microsoft Windows or should I say non-version of MS Windows.  Midori is rumored to be in the “incubation” phase and could be the future of OS possibilities.  Unlike MS Windows which runs on one physical, Midori will run within the cloud with applications installed locally, server-client, peer to peer etc.  It will be interested to see where Microsoft takes this one.

I have seen a lot of weird tech problems, but this is a first.

This couple was having problems with ants.  They tried finding the source of the ants with no luck until the wife had a printing problem and the husband found the ants in the scanner.  I believe I would just trash and get a new scanner.
